Thomas Dozol

Dozol’s Summer, May 26th, is the latest print in a body of work in which the artist juxtaposes and overlaps black and white portraits with blocks of primary colors.

Born in 1975 in Fort De France, Martinique, Dozol lives and works in New York City. His recent photographs straddle the realms of art, fashion, and design and depict friends and family who are photographed alone, often in vulnerable positions, as he explores their reactions to becoming the focus of observation. Summer, May 26th, is an edition of 30 and is available for $550 unframed. E/AB’s benefit print supports exhibiting publishers and artists and helps subsidize the Fair’s free admission for the public.

Thomas Dozol received his BA in acting from Ecole Florent, Paris, France, in 1998, and a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Université Paris Dauphine, Paris, France. He is a photographer, printmaker, and sculptor. Dozol’s recent solo shows include: Côtes d’Azurs, French Riviera 1988, London, UK; I Like You Better With Static Noise, Jack Hanley Gallery, New York, NY; I IS NOW, White Cubicle Gallery, London, UK; All Together Now, NP Contemporary Art Center, New York, NY; and I’ll Be Your Mirror, Mais Soma, Sao Paulo, Brasil. Selected group exhibitions include: Échange Écossais curated by French Riviera, Embassy Gallery, Edinburgh, UK; Dark Cube curated by Francesca Gavin, Palias de Tokyo, Paris, France; Synesthesia curated by Daniele Balice & Jay Ezra Nayssan, M+B, Los Angeles, CA; Frieze, Jack Hanley Gallery New York, NY; and What’s Next? curated by Jefferson Hack, Foam Gallery, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
