Memory Press is a collaborative publisher of artists’ books, working to bring together the many components that enable a work to become reality.  Maria G. Pisano, Director, is herself a book artist, curator and educator. Her book Hecatombe 9-11 and accompanying prints – Night Before the Day, Skeletal Remains and Waiting Urns, have been selected by The National September 11 Memorial Museum and the book is on permanent display. In April 2016 she delivered the illustrated lecture “Hidden Voice of Making Books: Viva Voce” at the Library of Congress.

Memory Press works are represented in private and public collections including MoMA, Whitney Museum of American Art, Brooklyn Museum, New York Public Library, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Delaware, Lafayette College, the Library of Congress, AAPG Library, Virginia Commonwealth University and Columbia University. This year works from the press can be seen in The Printed Page II, Abecedarian Gallery, CO, Outside The Margins: Contemporary Artist Books at Loyola University, Longitude, Latitude and Elevation at the Valley Arts Gallery in Forest Grove, OR. Over the years Ms. Pisano has curated a number of exhibits, including “Book as Witness: The Artist’s Response” at the Center for Book Arts in NY.
